Trappist chocolate is, together with beers, liqueurs and cosmetics, the most well - known and appreciated product by chocolate connoisseurs and also by those who are simply greedy.
In addition to being a real delight and a pleasure for the palate, chocolate [dark chocolate] is rich in nutrients, particularly flavonoids, which are natural antioxidants. Moreover, chocolate... makes us happier because it promotes the production of serotonin known as the good mood hormone!
One of the first monasteries, and probably the best known, which was dedicated to the production of chocolate and other chocolate products is the Monastery of Frattocchie. Just think that Trappist monks started the production of Trappist chocolate back in 1880. This chocolate was really special and genuine with an unmistakable taste and prepared following traditional methods. High quality Trappist chocolate is also produced by the nuns who animate the Monastery Nasi Pani N.S. of the Vltava near Prague in the Czech Republic.
Founded in 2007 in beautiful Central Bohemia, the nuns of the Monastery belong to the Cistercian order of the Strict Observance and are dedicated to the production of chocolate and truffles of the highest quality. These nuns strictly follow the Benedictine rule of " ora et labora" and chocolate is the fruit and expression of their way of life, based on prayer, work and serenity.
The chocolate of the Trappist nuns of the Vltava is produced in an absolutely artisanal way by the nuns. The ingredients used are of the highest quality and natural, the recipes are the ancient ones learned by the Italian master pastry chefs and also with the help of another French monastery, and no product contains preservatives or colorants so as not to alter the purity of the chocolate. What makes this Trappist chocolate really unique and tasty, in addition to the quality raw materials, is the processing which is carried out entirely by hand by the nuns themselves.
