Wines

The wines of the abbeys are highly sought after and renowned: from whites to pair with aperitifs and fish dishes, to reds for first courses with sauces and meat dishes but also rosés, particular and fragrant. The production of wine by monasteries was in the past necessary for liturgical celebrations. The monks therefore boast an ancient tradition in the cultivation of vines and from this experience great wines were born, increasingly appreciated and sought after, such as the Lagrein of the Muri Gries Abbey, or the Sylvaner of the Novacella Abbey, the Decanus of the Praglia Abbey and the Mutter of the Mausolea of Camaldoli or the Red Monaco of the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore.
